Elijah the Fire Prophet


It was simple in their appearance and dress, was as a prototype of John the Baptist. Matthew 3:4.

Remarkable facts of Elijah:

His first appearance was before the idolatrous King Ahab announcing a prolonged drought. 
1 Kings 17:1. 
In the desert of Cherith, by divine order was sustained by ravens. 1 Kings 17:2-6. Wheretheir faith was tested by drying up the stream.
In Sarepta town battered by famine, Elijah meets a widow, and he asked for water andbread, but the widow says she only has a handful of flour and a little olive oil. Elijah says''not afraid'' the promise of abundance come to this city. Elijah with great effort in prayer brings back to life the widow's son 1 Kings 17: 8-24.
Elijah ordered King Ahab to summon the false prophets on Mount Carmel therebychallenging the prophets of Baal. After the failure of false prophets, Elijah prayed a prayer and the Lord sent fire consuming the water and sacrifice as well. 1 Kings 18: 17-40.
The prayer of Elijah brings rain and the drought ends. 1 Kings 18: 41-46.
Elijah under a juniper in the desert after fleeing Queen Jezebel. Discouraged and exhausted want to die, but an angel that he feeds to follow the path up Mount Horeb. The Lord commanded Elijah to anoint him two new kings and his deputy. 1 Kings 19: 1-21.
In Abelmeholah Elijah found Elisha prayed and put his cloak about him indicating that he was being called to be the deputy of Elijah.
In the vineyard of Naboth Elijah pronounces sentence on Ahab and Jezebel his wife. 1 Kings 19: 19 - 2 Kings 1: 1-12
Elijah makes his last journey accompanied by Elisha, Elijah strikes the waters of the Jordan with his mantle and both cross the river on dry land.
After Elisha makes his request, Elijah in a chariot of fire and horses of fire ascended to heaven in a whirlwind. 2 Kings 2: 1-11.
