GFA missionary kidnapped, released

A Gospel for Asia (GFA) missionary who was abducted by a terrorist group last week has been apparently released, according to the head of the global mission agency.

Pastor Ponnachan George was on July 27 kidnapped by five armed terrorists from the Bible school campus operated by GFA in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam.

"I talked to Pastor Ponnachan a few hours ago. He simply wept for a long time, unable to say much. He thanked God and the Body of Christ for the massive fasting and prayer that took place on his behalf," said GFA Founder and President, KP Yohannan.

After kidnapping the pastor at gunpoint, the terrorists blindfolded him and tied his hands behind his back and forced him to walk for hours deep into the forest to their hideout.

"Throughout Ponnachan's entire ordeal, his captors repeatedly told him they were going to shoot him and would not spare him. He could hear them discuss their next moves and plans for demanding money, but he remained calm," informed Yohannan.

"We may be able to share more details later about the week-long, near-death experience he went through. But right now, we thank God for answering our prayers and causing these terrorists to release him unharmed without the huge ransom they demanded," he added.

GFA had earlier sent an email to its supporters soliciting prayers for the safe release of George. The mission agency maintains a policy of non-negotiation with terrorists for money. In similar instances, it has relied solely on prayer and fasting.

"I was frightened and really thought I would never be freed. I thought about my wife and young children and felt helpless. That is when I began to meditate on the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, and I reminded myself that my leader sent me out with a one-way ticket to this mission field. The passage in Acts 20 where Paul says 'I don't regard my life dear to myself' became a source of strength," Ponnachan told Yohannan after his release.

Reportedly, the local police force, army personnel and high-level officials, both from the state and federal governments, had helped in securing the release of George.

"Without their intervention, Pastor Ponnachan's freedom would not have been possible. We thank God for these officials who have been so helpful in securing the release of our brother," Yohannan said on Monday.

George oversees the ministry in the Karbi Anglong region, which includes 26 Bridge of Hope centers educating children, three radio broadcasts in the Karbi, Assamese and Kuki languages, a Bible college and more than 200 churches.

The 'Christianity of the heart'

The 'Christianity of the heart'

In 1 Samuel 13:8, we see the first reason why Saul lost his kingdom. Samuel had told Saul to wait for him and he would offer a sacrifice to the Lord, before Saul went into battle. Saul waited for 7 days and Samuel didn’t come. So Saul decided to offer the sacrifice himself (13:9). He knew that he was not a priest, and that it was against God’s laws for him to offer the sacrifice to God. But because he had been so blessed in his ministry as a king, he felt he could go outside the boundary that God had drawn around him and enter into another ministry. Many preachers have made this mistake. We must recognise the ministry God has given us and stay within the boundaries that God has drawn around us. Just because God has blessed us in one ministry, we cannot move into another ministry that God has not called us to. Many years ago, I recognised that God had not called me to be an evangelist. I realised that He had called me to teach believers. And so, I have stayed within my boundaries, despite all the pressure that others have put on me to go outside my boundaries. I don’t want to repeat Saul’s mistake. Other people have the ministry of an evangelist and I value them and respect them and work with them – and submit to them in the sphere of their ministry. Uzziah was another king who tried to be a priest. God struck him down with leprosy. Here we see that God took away Saul’s kingdom from him, when he tried to be priest. Recognise your ministry and stay within your boundaries; and allow other people to fulfil their ministries. This is the simple law of the body of Christ.

We also see Saul’s impatience here. A few minutes after he had offered the sacrifice, Samuel came as he had promised. What a different story it would have been if only Saul had waited just a few minutes longer! Because of his pride and impatience, he lost everything. But he still sat on the throne of Israel for another 30 years. There are many who are sitting on their thrones in Christendom today, like Saul - who have lost the anointing of God long ago. But because they have got money and human authority, they sit on their thrones directing their organisations. Saul degenerated from a wonderful young man, who started out in great humility, to become one who was useless to God!

Samuel then told Saul, “Your kingdom shall not endure now. You have acted foolishly. The Lord now seeks for somebody who is a man after His own heart” (13:13,14).

See the emphasis here on the heart. When Saul was anointed as king, the Bible says that his head stood out among the people, for he was taller than everybody else (1Sam.10:23). He was distinguished by his head – his brains. But God was now looking for someone who was distinguished by his heart. David was different from others, not because of his head, but because of his heart! He was a man after God’s own heart (1Sam.13:14).

There is a vast difference between a “Christianity of the head” and a “Christianity of the heart”. Saul represents the first and David represents the second. This is the essential difference between religious people and spiritual people. The Lord sought out for Himself a man after His own heart and He found David. Our head represents our brains, our intelligence and our cleverness. Our heart represents our devotion to the Lord and our worship of Him. The Father seeks for worshippers, not for scholars (John 4:23). If you are not a worshipper, if you are not devoted to Jesus Christ, no matter how clever you may be, you can end up like Saul. David finished his course triumphantly even though he made mistakes, because his heart was right.

Chapter 14:35. Here we read of the very first altar that Saul ever built. And there we see the reason for his failure: He was not a worshipper first of all. Saul’s ancestor, Abraham, had been a worshipper. Wherever Abraham went, he built an altar to worship the Lord. But Saul was just a smart, clever man and not a worshipper. Jesus said in Matthew 4:10, that we had to worship the Lord before we could serve Him. Beware of a Christianity that only resides in your head, and that does not lead you to a devotion to Jesus Christ and to a worship of God the Father.

The reality for Christians in India

Christian athletes honoured!

Christian athletes honoured with Eric Liddell awards

As the London 2012 Olympic Games drew to a close, More Than Gold, a Christian outreach organisation that seeks to enable local churches to engage with big sporting events in host cities around the world hosted the inaugural Legacy Award breakfast in honour of Eric Liddell.

The Eric Liddell Award honours one male and one female Olympian who display outstanding character at home, in their community and on the field of competition. The award is given in memory of Eric Liddell, winner of the gold and bronze medals for Great Britain at the 1924 Paris Olympics. Liddell is best known for the portrayal of his Olympic experience in the Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire.

The male recipient of the award was the 2008 Olympic decathlon gold medallist from the USA, Bryan Clay.

He told 2K Plus International Sport Media: “It’s a huge award, it means a lot to me that people think that what I do off the track is worthy of praise. My faith plays a huge role in my life and it’s amazing that somebody recognises that.”

The female athlete honoured at this inaugural event was British rower and double Olympic silver medallist, Debbie Flood.

Beyond his athletic successes, Liddell is known for his consistent character and strong Christian faith. Following the 1924 Olympics, he chose to return to his birthplace in China as a missionary, rather than train for further competition. By 1941, life in China had become so dangerous that Liddell sent his wife and daughters back to Great Britain. Two years later, he was interned in a Japanese POW camp, where he died in 1945, just four months before the end of World War II.”

His eldest daughter, 77 year old Patricia Liddell Russell said, “He was a wonderful dad and it’s great the award is given to these athletes because there’s more to winning gold than winning gold.’’

Archaeologists think!

Archaeologists think Jerusalem find could be biblical

An Israeli excavation team believes it has found an artifact depicting the Bible's Old Testament story of Samson fighting a lion.

Professor Shlomo Bunimovitz and Dr Zvi Lederman, excavation directors at Tel Aviv University, reported that while recently digging at the Tell Beit Shemesh excavation site, just outside of Jerusalem in the Judaean Hills, they found a small circular stone seal, less than an inch in diameter, which depicts a man with long hair fighting a feline figure.

The seal was found near the River Sorekm, which served as the ancient border between Israelite and Philistine territories, and dates to the 11th century BC, which was biblically during the ruling of the Judges, one of whom was Samson, according to The Telegraph.

According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Israeli archaeologists speculate that the seal does not represent a biblical Samson, but rather a story of a local hero who fought a lion and eventually morphed into the biblical Samson tale.

The archaeologists chose to focus their study of this area more on the stark differences between the Philistines, who travelled across the Aegean, and the local people, who were first the Canaanites and later the People of Judah.

Reportedly, archaeologists found a plethora of pig bones on the Philistines territory, while they found close to none on the Israeli territory, showing the locals chose not to eat pork to differentiate themselves from the Philistines.

These details, as Bunimovitz told Haaretz, "add a legendary air to the social process in which the two hostile groups honed their separate identities, the way it happens along many borders today."

In early July, archaeologists uncovered what they believed to be Samson's image on a rare mosaic in a synagogue in Huqoq, an ancient Jewish village that lies just a few miles west of Capernaum, in Galilee.

"This discovery is significant because only a small number of ancient (Late Roman) synagogue buildings are decorated with mosaics showing biblical scenes, and only two others have scenes with Samson (one is at another site just a couple of miles from Huqoq)," Jodi Magness of the University of North Carolina, who is co-conducting the dig, said in a statement.

In the Old Testament story, God bestowed supernatural human strength upon Samson. This strength, which Samson discovered while fighting a lion, was contained in his long hair.

Eventually, Samson was seduced by Delilah, who cut his long hair, robbing him of his strength and resulting in his imprisonment by the Philistines.

Attack on Nagapattinam Christians leave 15 injured, one dead

Some 15 Christians were wounded and one reported dead after extremists allegedly from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh launched a series of attacks in Sirkali taluk, Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.

According to the Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI), tensions began on June 21 when the Hindutva extremists went to the area and ordered the local population to boycott Christians, impeding them from praying and going to worship services. The extremists had apparently visited the village in May with the same demands.

To prevent any untoward incident, the local authorities on June 23 had organized a meeting to reconcile the two warring communities.

The meeting also involved KA Jayapal, Minister of Fisheries, whose efforts too failed to convince the extremists to leave the village.

Following the meeting, an armed mob reportedly attacked Christian homes with clubs, sticks and other implements, burning and plundering four buildings and forcing the Christians to flee.

About 15 people were injured in the clash and two are said to in critical conditions.

After the assault, few of the victim families reached the Poompuhar police station which sadly refused to take action. The matter was subsequently taken up with the authorities of the district of Nagapattinam.

Meanwhile, on June 24, one Christian, Mahalingam was found dead in the hospital under unclear circumstances. His son Rajendran claimed that his father was killed by the extremists. The police however have recorded it as a natural death.

"Christians in the village are facing a very difficult time. They were socially boycotted and they were not allowed to attend or conduct any worship meetings. Few Christian families have even fled the village in fear," the area leader Pastor Samuel Ramachandran told EFI.

Conhecendo a India!

Conhecendo a India!

In Andhra Pradesh, 22 women go missing every day

Mahesh Buddi, TNN | Aug 11, 2012, 04.35AM IST

HYDERABAD: Hinting at the existence of a large-scale human trafficking network, state police have found that at least 22 women and girls have gone missing every day in the state this year. In what is a matter of great concern, the total number of women and girls that have gone missing in the state in the last four years stands at a staggering 23,760.

The combined data collected by state police and the women and child welfare department clearly hints towards rampant trafficking in women and girl children in the state. A total of 47,181 persons have gone missing in the state since 2009 including 16,787 children and 12,882 women.

Of the total number of missing children in the state since 2009, about 66% (10,938) are girls. And, the number of missing girls seems to be only increasing as, till July 2012, another 2,786 children have gone missing with over 70% of them (1,955) girls. That means that about 10 girls go missing each day. Similarly, 2,519 women were missing till July this year, which means every day 12 women go missing.

The alarming fact is the number of women and girls that remain missing in government records in the past four years. Since 2009, a total of 23,760 girls and women have gone missing in the state and they are yet to be traced. This hints at the possibility of these victims being caught in the clutches of human traffickers.

To help the family-members track down these missing persons, police have launched a website displaying their case details — http://missingperson.ap.nic.in. Explaining the usefulness of the web portal, additional DG
VSK Kaumudi said that one can search for the missing or found person's details on the said website and approach the concerned police station or other government agency for further assistance. The website also features the details of unidentified bodies.

Apparently, railway police find many of these missing children at railway stations and, with the help of NGOs, either rehabilitate or hand them over to family-members.

"If someone finds a missing boy or girl, they can upload the photograph on the website with the person's details after cross-checking the same on the missing persons list. We hope that this facility will help some missing persons to reunite with their families," the
 ADG said.

Knowing India

India
India is a country located in South Asia, bordered on the north by China, Nepal and Bhutan, on the east by Myanmar; northwest Pakistan and the Indian Ocean to the south. Situated north-east India and north of the Bay of Bengal is Bangladesh.
Its extension is 3,287,782 km, the seventh largest country in area population.  It contains 1.21 billion inhabitants is the second most populous in the world. It is a republic composed of 28 states and seven territories, is a system of parliamentary democracy.
In 1991 were implemented economic reforms that transformed the country into one of the world's largest economies, however, by a insufficient infrastructure, heavy bureaucracy, high interest rates and a high social divide (rural poverty, illiteracy, caste system, corruption. ..) the country's economy is constantly suppressed, which prevents the operation of all its power. Its per capita income is considerably lower, about 50% of the population depends directly on agriculture to survive and more than 40% of the population is below the poverty line.
The industry and services, in turn, has developed rapidly in recent years representing respectively 26% and 55% of Gross Domestic Product. Unlike agriculture represents only 18%.
The main language is Hindi, but can be found up to 400 languages and dialects throughout the country, among them 21 are considered official.
The predominant religion is Hinduism in India, about 80% of the population, and the remainder is divided 11% Muslim, 3.8% and 5.2% other Christian.
Hinduism is one of the oldest religions of the world. There is a founder of this religion, unlike other Hinduism and made an entire intersection of values, philosophies and beliefs derived from different peoples and culturas.Para understand Hinduism, it is important to situate it historically. Around 3000 BC,  India was inhabited by people who worshiped the Father of the universe, a kind of monotheistic faith. Shortly afterwards, in 2500 BC Dravidian civilization flourished in the Indus valley, a region that today corresponds to the part of Pakistan and India. The Dravidians were followers of a philosophy of nature worship, matriarchal and guidance based on the principle of nonviolence. However, in 1500 BC, the Aryans invaded and occupied the region, reducing the ancient Dravidians to the condition of "rogue" - a sort of sub-class, which even today remains the lowest caste of Indian social pyramid.
Because the majority of the population is Hindu, the culture of the country is directly linked to this religion constitutes a social system, in that it divides the society into different castes. Determined by heredity, the castes are groups of people and families that differ from each other according to the social position they occupy more or less privileges and duties.
The caste system establishes a rigid social segregation, through which explains the role of each individual in society. This, in fact consolidates huge social inequalities in the country, since the change from one individual to another caste is considered a great insult to the Hindu religion.
The classification system has evolved to the political-social-religious. In its oldest structure, the system consisted of four castes: the Brahmins (priests), the Kshatriya (warriors), the vaixás (bourgeois) and Sudras (artisans). Each caste has its own standards and is rigorously separated from the others. Not allowed to intermarry, nor the common meal, or joint participation in professional activities. Breaking any of these obligations results in exclusion of caste, by which the individual is deprived of all rights and becomes a social pariah, outcaste.
Later that initial number of varieties increased and reached more than three thousand castes and subcastes, division that still powerfully influence in Indian society, despite the vanishing statutory varieties in 1947. At that time, the system divided the Indian Hindu population by about 17 million Brahmins, twenty million members of the other three castes and more than sixty millions of other categories, among them the untouchables (Harijans, people of God).
Hinduism and Buddhism originated in the country, and Christianity and Islam were introduced in the first millennium AD.
In 1793, William Carey, English shepherd and shoemaker, went to India with his family as deeply missionário.Dedicou first translation of the Bible to one of the local dialects, and after two years (1795) inaugurated the first Baptist church.
The work was very slow, because in seven years even with hundreds of people attending worship services, there was not converted. And in the year 1818, 25 years of Baptist missions in India, there were 600 converts, and thousands of people attending worship services, but Carey had already succeeded in infiltrating the Hindu culture and generating influence for change of habits common to sacrifice children and burn widows with their deceased husbands, showing that these rituals were not even in the very book of Hindu religion.
Since then missionary groups are always present in the country, however, for the most part be of the Hindu religion, Christianity, and not accepted and are greatly persecuted Christians.
Due to the large number of languages the difficulty of biblical material is enormous, since we sent in English and is necessary to translate to at least five local languages, so we need your prayers, that day after day the Gospel of Jesus is increasingly accepted by the Indians.
See Salvation aims to help Christians mainly in the cities Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh all are on the east of India, in Bahía Bengal, supporting them with biblical material, food, clothes and shoes, thus fulfilling the mission of preaching the gospel and more to bring salvation in India.

"The World Lies Current"

False Prophets - "The World Lies Current" Text Base Prophet Jeremiah 28:15-17.
Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah: Jehovah hath not sent thee but thou makest this people to trust in lies. Therefore thus saith the Lord: Behold I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. He died Hananiah the prophet, the same year, the seventh month. Jeremiah 28:15-17 Brothers in reading we've done I can clearly identify the Truth, the False Prophet and conviction of those who are against the word of our God.

Disobeying God!

Brother Truth, The false prophet and condemnation are the pillars of the Bible is telling us through the ages! When we fail to obey and follow the word of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth who is the Truth, we are going against God himself, as we will listen and believe the voice of the world and follow the False Prophets which is Satan. And Leaving hear the word of truth to hear the False Prophet are being sent to divine condemnation! And this is happening nowadays brothers!

Duty of the anointed of God!

We who have the calling and anointing of God in our lives, we should not be silent about the false prophets! (if something is wrong we have to submit the right way). We present a tone of authority the word that God Almighty has entrusted us to give deliverance to the captive people and ourselves. I know many are wondering ... But I am a beginner as I am small? But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I'm a boy, for all whom I send thee thou shalt go, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Jeremiah 1:7 I'm scared of them! Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise and tell them everything I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. Jeremiah 1:17 Brothers the almighty is giving authority ... and he that is now enabling you and he said to do it! For he sustain you in your right hand. Not to anyone in the world you should fear only God and our mind that we should fear. And I tell you more, falls within what has been revealed, prophesy what he was told by God, heal with the gift that God gave him rebuke and cast out with authority and power in the name of Jesus! If you do not do that God will raise another in its place and you will be smitten with the sword which God had given him before.

What are the False Prophets and the lies of the world today?

For only he who prophesies peace, wealth and power is being handled by our enemy's are the false prophets of the world today! is are: kings, presidents, religious leaders, our employers or those who have positions of authority, and also our false friends. These are the false prophets. And what are the false prophecies of today? They are false religions that kill thousands of people and selling heavenly riches and kingdoms in the name of gods that do not hesitate, the power industry that sells alcohol as something that will bring tranquility, relaxation and pleasure. But do not say that and the deaths of more than 2.5 million people worldwide each year. Tobacco (cigarettes) more than 5 million people die each year worldwide, Drugs (marijuana, cocaine, etc.) 200,000 deaths per year worldwide, diseases over 40 million people die worldwide totaling 47 million and 700 thousand people in world who die each year. Do you have any idea what this is? I think not! We will travel with our minds a bit! Pyongyang in May is the world's football field which is located in south korea has a capacity for 150,000 people! They would have to be built 318 stadiums like this to fit all the dead, on the scale we have the Brazilian maracana which has capacity for 82,238 people today. Would have to be built a little over 574 maracana to fit all the dead. There's more ... titanic! Would have to be built to fit 12mil Titanics all the dead that false prophets are doing every year worldwide, this is the way the world is failing to follow the voice of the Lord Jesus. And certainly not what our God has planned when he created man. And it does not end here! we have 925 million hungry people in the world beyond our civil war, we must not forget the body and sexual abuse, lack and loss of moral values, natural resources escarceis it all is the evil plan of Satan and many of us are living what the enemy has given us and they think they are right! It told you everything that I have here in my hands the evidence, and websites, newspapers and entities that still true in this world, if you do not believe in the scripture that I have in my right hand!.
All these curses have always been warned and announced by the prophets of God from of old, since the creation of the world among other passages I highlight the first that in Genesis 3:17. "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life. '' that and the revelation of all the suffering that would ravage the earth until the day of judgment. But the God we serve, has a plan even greater for those who believed and kept his commandments in your heart and demonstrated with his own life, live as Christ lived, and the promise that in Matthew 5:10.'' Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

'' Do not be afraid of False Prophets!

Do not give in when one of the false prophets will attack you or do any harm! For who sustains us and strengthens us is our God is all powerful nothing can go against him and his anointed. We must hold fast to the sacred word in our hearts along with our actions and testimony to the love of Jesus Christ.

God's plan!

If some people and nations today are experiencing some difficulty and that the Lord of hosts has a great plan of salvation and healing, and not for us jugar what God is doing, the authority granted to us was to take the gospel to captives. And so we have to do with much wisdom and love, for honor and glory of the Lord Jesus. For if you do the test and we go through times of extreme difficulty and that he also has plans in the crown and the coronation that our Lord has for us and all nations that have the word alive in your heart is in Revelation 22: 1-5;'' He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and Cordeiro. No midst of the street, and one and the other side of the river, was the tree of life, bearing twelve fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of nations.
And there shall be no more curse, and it is the throne of God and the Lamb, and his servants shall serve him. And see his face, and on their foreheads will be your name. And there will be no night, and they need no candle, neither light of the sun, because the Lord God enlightens them, and they shall reign for ever and ever.'' '' Revelation 22:12-14 And, behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me, to give every man according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter the city through the gates.

'' The Judgement Day!

The prophets and anointed of God has authority and power to proclaim the good news and all those who hear the word of God's prophets are failing to listen to God himself. This is accepting the deceptive words of false prophets who shall go to be judged by the Lord of hosts on the day of reckoning is near and that all those who belong to the group that is in Revelation 22: 15, 18-19 these are the word of God. May the grace of the Lord be with you all. Amen
